The CEDAW Trilogy
The CEDAW Trilogy is three short plays that were presented at the 67th United Nations Commission on the Status of Women Forum in March 2023. The stories, developed by HRSIG members, are fictional and inspired by historical records. They follow women through their struggles to draft the 1948 Universal Declaration of Human Rights, create the 1979 Convention on the Elimination of All Forms of Discrimination Against Women, and secure city and county-wide resolutions in support of CEDAW in the present day.
These plays serve as a tool to lead discussions and inspire action in support of women's human rights. Our storytelling is inspired by the United Nation's GOOD HUMAN RIGHTS STORIES INITIATIVE.

The Celebration Ceremony for CEDAW
Perform live or create a podcast from our script of the CEDAW Signing Ceremony during the Second World Conference on Women in Copenhagen 1980. This city is the home to the statue of the Little Mermaid —
the mythical creatures know for their prophesies
and 300-year lifespans.
The characters in this historical dramatization share
their prophesies for the future of CEDAW and decide what human rights defenders can do with the time
that is given us.
